1961 – 2006
Sanger-Harris was a department store chain formed by Federated Department Stores in 1961 from two existing Dallas, Texas chains, Sanger Brothers and A. Harris, that dated from the 19th century. The firm was merged with Foley’s in 1987; the combined company was sold to May Company in 1988. In 1997 the Arizona locations were transferred to another May division, Robinsons-May. The remaining stores were renamed Macy’s in 2006 as a result of Federated’s purchase of May Company in 2005
